Tuck Magic Shirt Stay Band

Standard Shirt Stays

One of the oldest shirt stay products, is still used by the military and many police departments, the standard shirt stay or shirt garter worn under pants.  These come in various designs, Y-shape, straight, and stirrup.  There are clips that attached to the bottom of a shirt and either to one’s socks or a stirrup under a foot.  Obviously not a good choice to wear with shorts, plus the clips looked a little daunting, they could tear the shirts and socks as well as  comments about them coming unclipped and flying by “the boys”.  

Under Belts

As opposed to a band, an under belt has some kind of adjustable fastener system.  One version is worn under pants or shorts and is adjustable via a hook and loops or Velcro® like fasteners.  There were some user comments about the hooks snagging shirts and ties by accident.  Another under band device was a large rubber belt with a metal button fastener system.  Many reported a strong rubber smell and that the belt broke at the button hole too easily.

Magnetic Shirt Stay

Most have two halves, one goes under the shirt, and one goes on top of the shirt.  The magnets are worn lower than the belt line, the front of the shirt should be locked in place and shouldn’t damage the clothing but they were relatively expensive and didn’t really cover the back of the shirt, just the front.  They also formed quite a little chunk that would be visible through some pants and maybe uncomfortable under tight fitting pants. The strong magnets also have a list of disclaimers including magnetic strip cards, electronic medical devices and other precautions.
